John - Austin, TX

John is a 59-year-old battling end-stage colon cancer. A true New Yorker, John’s life has been defined by his deep connection to the fire service and its traditions. He was on the ground during the aftermath of 9/11, and that spirit of resilience stays with him today. John has spent his life as a dedicated supporter and friend to the firefighting brotherhood across the country. Currently in Austin, he spends his time sharing his knowledge and passion for the service with anyone who wears the gear. John is now in hospice and has limited time to fulfill his final mission. His greatest dream is to return home to New York with his faithful Dalmatian, Halligan. He wants to see the Staten Island firehouses and smell the city air one last time. We are raising funds to get him and Halligan back to New York by mid-June.
